At Châtaigne Cottages we can accommodate parties of various sizes in our three gîtes. Châtaigne House has four bedrooms, one on the ground floor, and sleeps 12, whilst Birch Lodge and Pine Cottage both have one twin bedroom and one double bedroom on the first floor sleeping 4. We can provide cots and put-you-up beds free of charge for any ‘extras’ - within reason, of course!

The unique advantage of our properties is the huge living space in Châtaigne House, where all the members of the party can eat together indoors if desired.  Likewise, the outdoor eating arrangements are ideal, as all the tables and chairs can be positioned centrally, easily accessible to all .

All properties have fully equipped kitchens with access to a shared freezer and laundry facilities. Each house is fully furnished, and has a multitude of original features, as well as the modern benefit of satellite TV (Please bring your own digibox and card with you!)

Within the front garden, each house has its own area for outdoor eating with its own tables, chairs and sunshades. There are plenty more chairs and loungers around the pool. Châtaigne House has its own built-in barbecue, and we will provide portable barbecues for those staying in the cottages.

All houses are fitted with smoke alarms, while stairgates, high-chairs and booster seats are available on request. The whole site is enclosed and away from the road, which is very quiet in any case. The recreation and pool areas are also separately gated.

The pool has an infrared perimeter alarm for the security of all visitors. Full instructions for its use are available upon arrival. Pool available during June, July and August.

We offer a range of reading material in the houses and a games cupboard with a variety of balls, pool toys and a selection of small bikes and trikes. We have mountain bikes on site for local use. For those wishing to practice their technique before challenging the locals, we have a boules court next to the pool.

We are constantly upgrading the houses and grounds. The latest improvement is the creation of a large family space in Châtaigne House with the benefit of a wood burning fire for your comfort all year round.

Within the local area there are a number of activities available for the more energetic visitor, including tennis, horseriding, and golf (See Area/Activities page). Châtaigne Cottages are ideally situated for walkers and cyclists, being surrounded by rolling fields and chestnut woods criss-crossed with paths and tracks. We are also next door to a privately owned lake where fishing can be arranged for a small daily charge.

In your house you will find the following basic supplies when you arrive:

1 kitchen roll
2/3 dishwasher tablets
small amount washing-up liquid
matches
small kitchen sponge/scourer
bin liners in bins + 1 spare
1 roll toilet paper per toilet (NB Fosse-friendly variety ONLY – will say ‘convenable pour fosses’ on the label.)
ice in ice tray in ice box (bottled water)
dishwasher topped up with salt & rinseaid

Also supplied are 2 teatowels, a kitchen towel, a hand towel & a bathmat per shower/bathroom.
Each house has a small cleaning kit.

The beds are fitted with standard sized mattresses, mattress protectors, duvets & pillows (English oblong shape). If you have requested bed linen, the beds will be made up with this. The cots have mattresses, but no linen, unless specifically requested. Any stair gates requested will be in place.

All utilities provided free of charge during high season.
